Ronnie Price Mpetyane was born c. 1938 as an Anmatyerre speaker. His ancestral country was Lyentye [Mosquito Bore] community in Utopia, north-east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.

In 1989 he began painting artworks which typically depicted Men’s Ceremonial Life, including Kangaroo and Bronzewing Pigeon Dreamings. Utopia men’s paintings are known to be strong and notable for their more formal qualities based on ceremonial designs. Although Ronnie’s art always explored and combined vibrant and vivid colours, his artworks remained either stylized within the traditional dot format or as neo-western landscapes.

Until his passing in 2006, Ronnie was an ordained pastor and husband to well known Utopia artist ‘Gloria Tamarre Petyarre’. These two artists lived together at Mulga Bore [Akaye Soakage] in Utopia and produced beautiful artworks. Ronnie Price Mpetyane was a unique artist and his distinctive artworks preserve Aboriginal heritage and culture.
